Last weekend our little village was host to a wonderful group of greyhounds – most of them adopted through Greyhounds as Pets NZ. Our Dad helped organize the weekend with Victoria, our GAP area co-ordinator from Hamilton. Because we live quite a long way from any of the monthly GAP get-togethers, we decided to ask whether people from other parts of the area could come up here to us for once! And boy, did they come! We even had guests from as far away as New Plymouth, which, for non-New Zealanders, is a loooong 8-hour drive away from here. 🙂
Colville Farm (http://www.colvillefarmholidays.co.nz/) graciously allowed us to book up most of their accommodation, and they proved to have the perfect setting for our weekend get-together. The weather was simply glorious for mid-winter, and the sun shone down on us all weekend.
Our friends who had a long distance to travel came up on Friday evening, and everyone else arrived Saturday morning. We had a lovely bush walk in the afternoon, followed by afternoon tea, then evening food (boy, was there a lot of food!), poetry, and musical entertainment throughout the evening. Most of us hounds (20 of us! plus 1 poodle!) were so tired out we slept through most of the evening, and just let the Humans get on with it…
Sunday morning we all met up on Colville beach and went for a nice brisk walk. Then back to Colville Farm for mid-morning tea and more food, then everyone began to wend their way home…
What a wonderful time we all had! Here are some photos Mum took of the weekend…

Throughout the evening, we hounds did what hounds do best… and there were 20 of us inside! We all slept 🙂
