The Out-takes (or, Now You See Me………)

When she was looking at another friend’s funny photos recently, Mum was reminded that for every good photo she gets of me or Krissy, there are quite a few that don’t make the cut. She thought it might be fun to post a few of them here….. πŸ™‚

Greyhounds as Pets NZ Winter Wonderland Weekend!

Last weekend our little village was host to a wonderful group of greyhounds – most of them adopted through Greyhounds as Pets NZ. Our Dad helped organize the weekend with Victoria, our GAP area co-ordinator from Hamilton. Because we live quite a long way from any of the monthly GAP get-togethers, we decided to ask whether people from other parts of the area could come up here to us for once! And boy, did they come! We even had guests from as far away as New Plymouth, which, for non-New Zealanders, is a loooong 8-hour drive away from here. πŸ™‚

Colville Farm (http://www.colvillefarmholidays.co.nz/) graciously allowed us to book up most of their accommodation, and they proved to have the perfect setting for our weekend get-together. The weather was simply glorious for mid-winter, and the sun shone down on us all weekend.

Our friends who had a long distance to travel came up on Friday evening, and everyone else arrived Saturday morning. We had a lovely bush walk in the afternoon, followed by afternoon tea, then evening food (boy, was there a lot of food!), poetry, and musical entertainment throughout the evening. Most of us hounds (20 of us! plus 1 poodle!) were so tired out we slept through most of the evening, and just let the Humans get on with it…

Sunday morning we all met up on Colville beach and went for a nice brisk walk. Then back to Colville Farm for mid-morning tea and more food, then everyone began to wend their way home…

What a wonderful time we all had! Here are some photos Mum took of the weekend…

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 3,400 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 6 years to get that many views.

Click here to see the complete report.

Well, my first full year of blogging has been hugely successful. The report above is very interesting (for nerds HAHAHA!) But seriously – visitors from over 30 countries in the world! Wow! Even I am a little bit impressed…

Mum says she really only set up this blog so that she could record our lives together. A sort of personal picture diary. She has never really publicized it widely, but we have gradually built up a circle of doggy friends from around the world, which is lovely. Β Mum says that when she had her Afghan hound many years ago, there were no digital cameras, and photos were relatively expensive to develop and print, so she doesn’t have a huge amount of photos of him. She says it’s really nice being able to document all the little things that I do, things that would possibly have been forgotten otherwise. And as I have grown to maturity (whatever that is) she says it’s interesting to see how I have changed.

I wouldn’t know about all that stuff – I mean, dog! As long as I continue to get my two meals a day, my walks with Dad and with Mum, visits to the beach, zoomies round the garden, bones and lots of yummy treats, two settees, two human beds and four squishy soft dog beds placed strategically around the house, plus lots of love and attention – then what’s not to be happy about?

πŸ™‚

Bye for now.

Just me..... :-)

Brits at the Beach in Tairua… (especially for Easy)

I promised my Weimaraner friend Easy (http://easyweimaraner.wordpress.com/)Β that I would post a picture of another Weimaraner we saw when we were doing some promotion forΒ GreyhoundsΒ as Pets (GAP) New Zealand in October last year. So here is the photo – and a few more from the event, which was called “Brits at the Beach”. We had a wonderful time, and it was a fun day out.

There were over 300 dogs at the event - this is the only Weimaraner we saw :-)
