The Out-takes (or, Now You See Me………)

When she was looking at another friend’s funny photos recently, Mum was reminded that for every good photo she gets of me or Krissy, there are quite a few that don’t make the cut. She thought it might be fun to post a few of them here….. 🙂

This one was so nearly good…

Krissy’s at home…

Yes, she hasn’t been here a week yet, and Krissy’s certainly settled into the relaxed routine we have here. Here are a few pics my Mum’s taken this week…..

She IS sort of cute, isn't she? :-)

I taught her about beds (the Human kind), She jumps up in the mornings to say hello to Mum and Dad, then she gets straight down again, I have no problem with that – more room for me! 🙂

Here we are, discussing the Humans. I'm giving Krissy a few tips... :-)

On the beach with Mum - got our leads tangled! :-) As you can see, Krissy has a much thicker coat than me - probably because she lived in the South Island, where it's much colder!

We had a great time in the garden! We did lots of separate sniffings, then some communal sniffings, then some play together – then we did a big zoomie around the house. Mum and Dad made sure to keep out of our way then! 🙂

Let's play! :-)

So – that’s it from us for now! Catch you later!

Exciting news!

It’s been a bit quiet around here lately… We have all been doing the usual things (which for me involves lots of walks, lots of zoomies, and lots of sleeping on the sofa!) Mum and Dad have both been busy doing writing things on their computers – and they have obviously been up to other things on their computers, as well. I happened to look over Mum’s shoulder the other week (if I stand on the sofa behind her seat, I can just see the screen) and guess what she was looking at? OTHER DOGS!

At first I was really worried, because why would she want to look at photos of any other hound but me? But then I got sort of interested in the photos in spite of myself – there were some very pretty lady greyhounds on her screen…

Well, it took a little while for things to be sorted out, but it’s now official. Mum and Dad are adopting a second greyhound from Greyhounds as Pets NZ! We haven’t met her yet, but she is a very pretty little black and white girl called Krissy! She is two years older than me, but she and I have the same father! And her birthday is one day after mine!

Here are a couple of photos of her…

Meet Krissy! Isn't she cute? :-)

Krissy resizedShe looks like a cheeky little minx, so I’ll probably have to let her know who’s Top Dog around here. But Mum says I have to be nice to her, as she’s never lived in a home before, so Mum’s looking to me to set her a good example. (Well, we can hope, Mum…..)

The other bit of exciting news is that it’s my birthday today! I am three! We haven’t had a special celebration today, as it is Krissy’s 5th birthday tomorrow, and she is still in kennels at the moment. We will be picking her up on Sunday, so we have decided that we will have a joint birthday celebration next week, and my Dad is going to bake us a special cake!

Krissy has been living in the South Island, and she came over on the ferry just yesterday, with two other hounds who have found their forever homes here in the North Island. She’s probably wondering what on earth’s happening to her right now, but hopefully she’ll be happy once she’s settled in with us. 🙂

Here’s a picture of me wearing my birthday silk tie for my walk this morning. Don’t I look smart?

And here I am having a zoom round the garden the other morning – it was a bit chilly so I’m wearing one of my new coats that my Mum makes…

Zooms!

We hounds enjoy our zoomies, and I’m very lucky because I have a nice big garden to zoom in! Here are a few new pictures Mum’s taken of me  having fun…

Did you see me, Dad? 🙂

Phew! After all that, Mum took me for a nice stroll round the village, to cool down. Then I came home to a lovely breakfast of rump steak! Am I lucky, or what? 🙂

Off for my snooze, now. ‘Bye!

🙂

I’m still here!

It’s been a strange old summer and autumn. New Zealand – including the Coromandel Peninsula – is still desperate for a good spell of rain, and we still have a total fire ban in place up here. The Coromandel isn’t usually short of a drop of rain, so we’re all feeling it right now…

We have had a quiet few months. Dad’s been a bit  under the weather, and Mum is waiting to have a cataract operation on her eye – so she hasn’t been spending as much time on the computer as usual.

She has been taking lots of photos of little old Moi, though… Here are a few…

As you can see, I’ve been doing lots of zoomies.

But sometimes it’s nice just to settle down and have a good snooze…..

‘Bye for now….. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz   🙂

Snoozings, snacks, and rabbits…

MMMMM..... food!

MMMMM….. food!

We have a friend staying with us at the moment. She thinks I am a very nice hound so naturally I think she is a very nice person! And she bought me two packets of yummy treats!

Before our guest arrived Mum made up the bed in the spare room for her. I felt it was my duty to test it out and make sure it was comfortable…

Yes, this is a very comffy bed... zzzzz.....

While I was trying out the spare bed, look what Mum and Dad spotted in the garden. And they didn’t even wake me up!

After all that excitement yesterday, I’ve been taking it easy today. This morning while the Humans sat around and talked, I relaxed on my bed in the sunshine and didn’t do very much at all…

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 3,400 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 6 years to get that many views.

Click here to see the complete report.

Well, my first full year of blogging has been hugely successful. The report above is very interesting (for nerds HAHAHA!) But seriously – visitors from over 30 countries in the world! Wow! Even I am a little bit impressed…

Mum says she really only set up this blog so that she could record our lives together. A sort of personal picture diary. She has never really publicized it widely, but we have gradually built up a circle of doggy friends from around the world, which is lovely.  Mum says that when she had her Afghan hound many years ago, there were no digital cameras, and photos were relatively expensive to develop and print, so she doesn’t have a huge amount of photos of him. She says it’s really nice being able to document all the little things that I do, things that would possibly have been forgotten otherwise. And as I have grown to maturity (whatever that is) she says it’s interesting to see how I have changed.

I wouldn’t know about all that stuff – I mean, dog! As long as I continue to get my two meals a day, my walks with Dad and with Mum, visits to the beach, zoomies round the garden, bones and lots of yummy treats, two settees, two human beds and four squishy soft dog beds placed strategically around the house, plus lots of love and attention – then what’s not to be happy about?

🙂

Bye for now.

Just me..... :-)

Just me….. 🙂
