We like it!!!
As you can see, we hounds take our relaxation very seriously. And now, if you don’t mind, we’re going to relax some more. 🙂
‘Bye for now from Solo and Krissy 🙂
It was a lovely crisp, clear winter’s morning yesterday. Mum wandered round the garden and took some photos…..
Well, it’s dinner time now. ‘Bye!!!
Yes, she hasn’t been here a week yet, and Krissy’s certainly settled into the relaxed routine we have here. Here are a few pics my Mum’s taken this week…..
I taught her about beds (the Human kind), She jumps up in the mornings to say hello to Mum and Dad, then she gets straight down again, I have no problem with that – more room for me! 🙂
We had a great time in the garden! We did lots of separate sniffings, then some communal sniffings, then some play together – then we did a big zoomie around the house. Mum and Dad made sure to keep out of our way then! 🙂
So – that’s it from us for now! Catch you later!
Solo and Krissy 🙂
Well, she’s here! 🙂
We had a three-hour drive to a café alongside a state highway in order to pick up my new sister, Krissy, from the GAP NZ van, which was transporting several hounds to their new homes around the island. Mum took a few photos of us at the café, after she put warm fleeces on both of us, as it was cold, wet, and windy there!
Krissy is wearing one of my coats, which is a bit big on her. Mum’s going to make her one that fits her better! 🙂
After the long drive home, Mum and Dad let me show Krissy round the garden. I think she liked it! 🙂
Both Mum and Dad have reported that we walk well together. Mum finds it endearing that, if I stop to sniff something, then Krissy comes to sniff the same spot with me… 🙂
We’re still working on sorting out our personal space as far as the beds go, but we have no problem with sharing and swapping between our feed bowls and water bowl.
Krissy is five years old – that’s just two years older than me. She has never been a house dog, and has been in kennels since she retired from racing at the end of last year. Obviously she is on a huge learning curve, with everything very new to her. She has already tackled the outside open steps up to the house on her own (clever girl!) and she makes it up and down the wooden stairs inside the house with lots of help from Mum and Dad. I also help, too, by running up and down the stairs beside her, to show her how it’s done.
Mum says she is a quick learner – like me! – and she is getting used to toileting arrangements. Even though she has never been house-trained, she was good as gold through the night, and I showed her the ropes as far as morning toileting goes. I’m very happy to help my new sister! 🙂
This morning, Krissy picked up one of my soft toys, and we had a brief game of tug with it. It was great fun, and we made Mum and Dad smile! Of course – typical! – Mum didn’t have the camera handy when we were playing!
Well, that’s the Solo and Krissy report for today! I hope you enjoy sharing these moments with us! I’ll keep you posted…
WOOFS from Solo!
Not long now.
It’s been a bit quiet around here lately… We have all been doing the usual things (which for me involves lots of walks, lots of zoomies, and lots of sleeping on the sofa!) Mum and Dad have both been busy doing writing things on their computers – and they have obviously been up to other things on their computers, as well. I happened to look over Mum’s shoulder the other week (if I stand on the sofa behind her seat, I can just see the screen) and guess what she was looking at? OTHER DOGS!
At first I was really worried, because why would she want to look at photos of any other hound but me? But then I got sort of interested in the photos in spite of myself – there were some very pretty lady greyhounds on her screen…
Well, it took a little while for things to be sorted out, but it’s now official. Mum and Dad are adopting a second greyhound from Greyhounds as Pets NZ! We haven’t met her yet, but she is a very pretty little black and white girl called Krissy! She is two years older than me, but she and I have the same father! And her birthday is one day after mine!
Here are a couple of photos of her…
She looks like a cheeky little minx, so I’ll probably have to let her know who’s Top Dog around here. But Mum says I have to be nice to her, as she’s never lived in a home before, so Mum’s looking to me to set her a good example. (Well, we can hope, Mum…..)
The other bit of exciting news is that it’s my birthday today! I am three! We haven’t had a special celebration today, as it is Krissy’s 5th birthday tomorrow, and she is still in kennels at the moment. We will be picking her up on Sunday, so we have decided that we will have a joint birthday celebration next week, and my Dad is going to bake us a special cake!
Krissy has been living in the South Island, and she came over on the ferry just yesterday, with two other hounds who have found their forever homes here in the North Island. She’s probably wondering what on earth’s happening to her right now, but hopefully she’ll be happy once she’s settled in with us. 🙂
Here’s a picture of me wearing my birthday silk tie for my walk this morning. Don’t I look smart?
And here I am having a zoom round the garden the other morning – it was a bit chilly so I’m wearing one of my new coats that my Mum makes…
Well, it’s time for a nice nap before bedtime…
‘Bye for now….. 🙂
